I called TUI yesterday for an update on our August flights (Sunday from Manchester) but just got the party line trotted out that it was still scheduled & we’d be notified of any changes. I asked about changing flights (we could go on the previous day to fit in with work commitments) but was shocked to be told we would lose the entire cost of the flights we’ve booked and we’d have to pay in full for a new flight! I’m beginning to think the best way forward is to research an alternative which can be changed for the longest period of time. If TUI goes ahead, we’ll switch the reserve flights, and if it doesn’t go ahead we’re covered and will get a refund from TUI.

At least TUI are consistent in their BS strap lines. I wish they’d just say the flight will be cancelled but we won’t issue your refund until the flight date - not ideal but at least I know I’m getting my £ back. At the moment like many of you I’ve no idea what is happening but sure it will be cancelled but until I know I’ll get the £ back I cannot book anything else just in case. That said we won’t be going in 2021 anyway due to the current position far from reverting back to normal. Safe to say I’ve never know airline treat customers so badly just to keep my money longer. Will never fly with them again

We are due to go to Mexico on 6th January so 7 days away and still no official cancellation from TUI.
I have rung and they have admitted it’s cancelled but need to wait for an e mail to confirm it before we can request refund.
BA cancelled the flights in November 4th and refunded seat booking fee as soon as I phoned ( we booked BA to get Club World as part of a TUI package ) but TUI won’t budge until email issued and they say they are going in date order.

Out of interest I had a look on ‘flight status’ today & it doesn’t recognise the flight number. I don’t know if this is because they haven’t loaded US flights yet, or it means it’s cancelled. Does any Dibber have a flight number for a Sanford flight from Manchester and could possibly see if theirs is the same? Many thanks.

In regards to our flights this could of course be a storm in a teacup if they do go ahead. The August 2021 schedule which affects me doesn’t make any sense as it stands, only allowing for a one week holiday in one week of the month in peak time. So hopefully this will sort itself out. Just wish TUI would tell us more than a stock disclaimer.

Tui may not be able to tell you any more. I doubt the telephone staff know much about next August's flights. I think the people with the knowledge are the ones at the top.

In all honesty, right now it should have all been loaded correctly at this time of year and they should be cancelling nearer the time should covid still be going on.

There shouldn’t be the mess that is peak season flights at the moment. Load as normal, hope for the best, have a back up plan - that plan doesn’t need to be relayed to the call centre staff, but august flights should be sorted.

While I partially agree the problem is assessing the passenger loads. NO airline is going to fly every day if twice a week is enough. The loss of flyers is unprecedented so there are no algorithms to use to assess the need.

Flights will continue to be changed and cancelled all year. We recently had Seattle to UK flight for September changed with BA as they have dropped the number of flights per day.

The problem comes when you dont book directly with the supplier. EG British airways through Tui as that means you have to wait BAs instruction to Tui and on to you.

This is a lesson I keep harping on about at the moment. Only book with the supplier, it may cost a bit more but you get the advantage.

I booked a deposit only, not Florida with BA for 6 people before the sale. In the sale the price dropped by £1400, I contacted them and they repriced to the new price. My First Class flight from Seattle got cancelled, I didnt like the cancellation flight they suggested so phoned and got moved to the flight I wanted the next day. I could not have done this with a third party supplier.

Book with the supplier otherwise it becomes your problem.
