siriusXM radio on Alamo rental

Anyone had one of these radios working or have you had to pay an additional charge for it.

Of the 6 or 7 rentals i've had where the vehicle had a sirius radio, 2 worked and the rest were demo stations only and one 1 of those occasions where it did work i was so far North in Alaska that the reception was very, very patchy and would cut out whilst moving.

I've never paid a fee to have it working and it really isn't something that is worth the money to me as other than listening to the football on a Saturday afternoon on BBC World I have never really used it.

Had a few, it�s all on the age of the car and the make, the guy at the rental desk told me fords and Lincoln�s (same company) come with a years free on purchase so if the rental car is under a year old you will have xm.

Chrysler and Chevy don�t have anything free on purchase so no xm.

I always hope to get my fill of E Street Radio, but it is hit and miss. Sometimes it's enabled and other times not, across various rental companies.
I guess there are plenty of AM/FM stations if out of luck with Sirius.
