Mobile Solo at DLP March 2019 - Day 1 Part 2

Day 1 - Part 1 can be found here: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho...7#post13753397

Day 1 - Part 2

I was heading for Walt Disney Studios! *gasp* yes really! I was doing the non castle park first! Might as well end the report now as I’ve obviously not got a clue what I’m doing

Oh not really, I had a plan! I was itching to ride Tower of Terror! My favourite ride ever aaaaaand I had a lunch reservation at Bistro Chez Remy! I was starving, fuelled only by my breakfast pastry and a Starbucks frappuccino which let’s face it is basically flavoured air.

I was so impressed with how beautiful the theming was and I spent ages just taking it all in. I got the Disney vibe as soon as I entered and was so glad to be there.

It was 30 minute wait for ToT - yay! That’s virtually a walk on by WDW standards so I got in line. And then road it twice! It’s amazing! I think I dare to say it’s better than the WDW version! 😮

I wandered around a little, just taking in the atmosphere and going at my own pace. I’ve done Orlando with my ex and it always felt like I was pulling him to this place or that place. Now I was solo I could wander where I please without worrying about who wanted to do what.

My reservation came around for Bistro Chez Remy and I could not wait. I was so hungry and looking forward to this. I took a seat and waited. I have to say everyone was so welcoming and no one made me feel awkward for being alone.

Once inside the smell of delicious food hit me and I was so ready for this... I have to try the wine right? I was waiting only a short while and I was escorted though.

One word... WOW! The theming is so good here! And to think people said I might not get the Disney feels or magic here... how could I not?

I’m on the plus plan so I get a starter, main and dessert plus a soft drink. I’m glad I came hungry. I pushed the boat out and ordered a nice glass of rosè too. I had a lovely table, the chairs looked like bottle caps and my table itself a tin lid

I had the the Mixed Greens to start (mixed greens, cheese, sun dried tomatoes, radish, and poached egg, with a vinegarette)

Oh my word.. I declare this the best salad I’ve had and I’m a famous salad dodger as they just have no flavour. Not this one! The sun dried tomatoes were amazing and the egg poached lovely. It was so tasty and flavoursome - I might have to come back to make sure it’s not just because I’m super hungry!

Bread service was nice too, it tasted like it had a salted crust - yummy! But sans butter? Not sure if it’s meant to come without or the server forgot but she whisked it away once my starter was done otherwise I would’ve asked for butter so I could graze while I waited for my main I was so impressed with my server though, I saw her speaking French, Spanish and English; meanwhile here’s me butchering the French language one ‘Merci Beaucoup’ at a time!

For my mains, of course I had the steak... and while I was waiting for it to arrive I wondered if the sever would think it sacrilege to ask for ketchup for my chips?

Steak, chips, chef sauce and ratatouille.

Well.. the steak was amazing and my sever recommended me the chef sauce... I have no idea what was in it but it was divine! Only let down was the ratatouille - the primary taste was aubergine and courgette which I wasn’t expecting. I thought it would be more tomato tasting. The steak was cooked to perfection though.

I had Gusteaus Dessert (puff pastry base, cream filled profiteroles on a creme patisserie filling, gusteaus name was a nice rich raspberry sauce) for afters. I have to say I can see why people moan about slow service in DLP. However, whilst I admit for some it might seem slow I prefer to call it leisurely... it’s well spaced and gives you time to digest, enjoying each course rather than feeling shoved out the door.

It was totally amazing but I had to leave half of it as I was just stuffed!

I was far too full and my early start was catching up with me so I decided to walk back to the hotel. I unpacked a little and had a totally guilt free 3 hour nap. If I wasn’t solo I don’t think I’d have done that, I’d have pushed on in the park despite my tiredness. It was a luxury to just nap, shower and wake up feeling refreshed.

Continued in part 3...

Oh wow, that food looks immense! I had really hoped to eat here, but the menu just didn't appeal to DH (i'm sure the kids wouldve just gone along with it)... hmmm, maybe I need a solo trip!

Studios looks so empty compared to when we were there! Great start! Cant wait for more!

Yes! Solo is definitely all about ‘treat yourself’ for me

The food has been fantastic so far and such a nice surprise as I’d heard DLP was not known for dining experiences

Aren’t solo trips the best! I love travelling alone now, never thought I would. Itsvthat freedom to come and go as you please, rush or linger, ride TOT twice in a row without complaint!
Sounds like you’re having a great time - keep the TR coming.

Your meal looks outstanding. I love my family holidays but it does sound lovely to just do whatever you want including a good nap when you want 😃 . Looking forward to following your report

The meal was so so so good and my only regret was not booking it twice! I still might try to fit in a sneaky reservation on my last day if time allows!

Solo is such a treat, it’s so lovely to just do what you please when you please. I love it

I have to say, that salad looks delicious. I’d like to try Chez Remy, but there really isn’t much that DD would eat. We’ve opted for a reservation at Captain Jack’s instead.
