Magic Kingdom to Animal Kingdom without a car?

Hi, we're booked for next summer and I have a query about getting from MK to Animal Kingdom without a car. DW would like to go on her own one day while the rest of us go to a water park as she's not keen on water parks. If I drop her at MK in the morning would she be able to get across to Animal Kingdom (for Avatar) and back? We are staying off site in a villa. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

She would have to walk over to the Contemporary and get the bus to AK from there.
Does she want to visit both MK and AK? If not, you’d be better to take her direct to AK (especially if you’re going to BB as they’re really close).

Thanks. Can she get the monorail to Contemporary and then the bus? We are going to Volcano Bay that day.

There are direct buses between MK and AK, so that would be the easiest option

They're close to each other, but don't share a car park as the BB car park is free, whereas the AK one isn't. When they cancelled direct buses from the resorts to the water parks, you had to get a bus to AK, then change to another bus to BB - it wasn't walkable as far as I'm aware.

It's actually Volcano Bay that we are going to, but thanks for the replies.

You can walk very quickly from MK to contemporary- literally head round past the busses, and round the edge of the contemporary car park, then othe bus stop is half way between Baylaketower and the main resort - so she could get to any of the parks from there
However if she’s not feeling the walk you can definitely get a bus to AK from the ticket and transportation centre.

There are buses to AK direct from MK so no need to go anywhere else
