Miami trip planning

Hi

I'm planning a trip for next August and need some help.

We land in Miami on 8 August and want to spend a week in South Florida before driving to Orlando on 15 August.

Will have a car so we can drive to different places.

I'm struggling to put together an agenda. What advice would you have about how to fill this time ?

Myself, wife and 2 DD 13&11

Thanks

We arrive on 4th August! It depends how much driving you want to do, and I think you need to decide if you want to do The Keys.

We are doing:
Miami
Keys
Homestead
Naples
Sarasota/ Bradenton

This will take 13nights.

You could cut out the keys, or maybe stay in homestead and just pop down to key largo as a day trip. And then do Everglades and shark valley from homestead.

West coast possibilities are endless, but we felt Naples ticked a lot of boxes.

We spent our first week with 2 nights in Miami Beach, 1 in Duck Key, 2 in Key West and 2 in AMI before hitting Orlando.
We loved it!

I love Key West. LOVE. It's always a good choice and has a vibe totally unique in Florida. Keep in mind a four hour trip there and then backtrack along the same highway another four hours. I think there is more on the east coast to capture kids attention: South Beach, Ft Lauderdale, Delray Beach (my fave) and the Palm Beaches. Although the beaches in general, and some of the islands along the west coast, are tough to beat. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks for all the replies

I'm currently thinking of:

Sat: Arrive Miami
Sun: Stay Miami (Tour City, Beach)
Mon: Stay Miami (Everglades)
Tues: Drive to Key West
Wed: Stay Key West
Thurs: Drive Somewhere (Fort Lauderdale, Delray Beach, Naples?)
Fri: Stay Somewhere
Sat: Drive to Orlando

Any thoughts on this ?

Thanks again

We spent 2 nights in Miami and saw a lot in that time. Then did 5 nights in the Keys and think you could do even longer there before we drove to Orlando.
Not sure how much there is to do in the Everglades beside the airboat?
