Counter ‘Junk Fees’ in US Legislation

Junk fees Prevention Act
Stopping consumers being ripped off with these terrible fees.
Includes:
- Stopping airlines from charging families to sit together.
- Making airlines give refunds for delays.
- Stopping resort fees.
- Stopping rip off ticket add ons.
- Stopping rip off overdraft and credit card fees.
- Stopping mobile/ cable termination rip off fees.

These junk fees are everywhere now including in the U.K.
Why haven’t we got similar coming here? Would be a vote winner. These companies are taking the Mickey with all these junk fees. What starts in the US often ends up coming here so hopefully soon.

Don’t we have some of those protections already? Is the US and UK comparable in terms of regulation and custom and practice?

And the cynic in me says that we will all end up paying for this somewhere else.

Maybe some, but we still have loads of junk fees and rip off charges.
I just booked Ben Elton and I had ticket fee, admin fee and venue fee added on at the end!

Nothing unless the act becomes law.

The reason they have resort fees is because aggregators like Booking.com, Expedia etc take a massive amount for each room they sell. Resort fees are paid directly the hotel - they get 100% of it rather than giving 30-40% to an aggregator.

I agree but the OP suggested this was sorted in USA - just needed to be sorted in the UK ...or did I read that wrong
