Fizzy whip, you are learning, your new pup is learning so don’t be so hard on yourself, it Will work out, never smack, never scold, just be you and your pup will appreciate it.

I think pugs and frenchies can be quite similar in terms of personality and likes / dislikes. My older pug in particular hates the rain or even damp ground, he would take a long detour to avoid a bit of damp ground. We have had to carry him outside to go toilet under a tree if it has been raining and he is four!
They went to doggie day care every Wednesday last summer and the owner sent group texts about the dogs enjoying the paddling pool, I responded excitedly asking did mine enjoy it as I would get them one if so. She responded that no, my boys stood at the side and stared at the other dogs as if they were all "completely bonkers". Wilson is utterly gorgeous by the way. |

Funny you should say that as we were originally going to get a pug , I adore them ! But we were finding it hard to find good breeder not too far away and not someone just out to make money.
From what i’ve read, they do seem very similar so I think I’ll have to come to you with anymore questions or gripes! The paddling pool thing is hilarious! |

It’s like the first month of a new born but oh so worth it
We’ve had 4 frenchies here today all in the paddling pool with the 2 grandsons happy as Larry being soaked by super soakers then flaked out on the sofa between the boys age 3 and not yet 2 watching toy story Just going to take some of them for a walk now it’s cooler |

So, we thought it would be great to breed from our now three year old cairn terrier. OMG! She only had one puppy who is now nearly 11 weeks old. She’s beautiful but it’s been such hard work. I am in awe of breeders who spend so much time and patience getting these puppies to a stage where we can take them home. We’ve been really relaxed about toilet training; Primrose has a piece of artificial grass with a puppy pad under it in her pen and another one in the lounge and she’s been using it since she first tottered about at a couple of weeks old. If she’s playing in the garden and goes to the toilet we praise her but, after a traumatic birth and going through helping her mum to feed her, wean her, keep her warm or cool, learn how to play and socialise from birth, toilet training is feeling quite laid back. Primrose cried a couple of nights when her mum (Penny) decided she didn’t want to sleep with her anymore and we moved her into a playpen but she sleeps through the night now. Never having another puppy again, though.
I’m surprised that no one is mentioning bedtime feeds. We’ve managed to push forward this feed to 11pm over the last week or so from midnight the week before and she’ll continue with those until she’s 4 months old. Do different breeds have different feeding patterns I wonder? Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight. Enjoy your lovely new additions - they all look gorgeous ❤️ |

Lol, to be honest we have three cairns now - Paddy who’s 8, Penny who’s three and Primrose the puppy - and I’ve said with all of them that I’m never having any more puppies. Paddy was the worst. He’d been bred in a barn and had not been socialised at all in a house or with people and had had no toilet training started when we got him at 8 weeks old. We crate trained him but I’ve preferred puppy pens since then. It feels so overwhelming when they first come home (or are born) but it does get easier and I would be lost without them. Cairns are just so naughty but they do make us laugh 😆

My springer is my first dog and boy has it been hard work. The first year was mostly spent crying mopping up and rocking thinking "what the actual hell have I done!" A bit like when you have a baby everyone suddenly becomes Miriam Stoppard! They don't come with a manual and what works for some doesn't work for all. I'm sure your doing a great job and it will get easier, just 😬 I still really miss sitting in the lounge and relaxing. Bills 2 next month and there's something about the lounge that's sends him ever so slightly crackers.
