Mobile Calling Mr Tom Morrow - Jiko

Well we finally made it last night on day 2 of DDP and it was fabulous!
I'm so glad we went so thank you for the recommendation and fora sending the menu too!
We sat at the Chefs Bench which was brilliant. They were chatty, fun and informative.

We somehow managed 3 courses so that's the 1st desserts of the whole holiday.

I had wild boar tenderloin and OH and DS both had the corn and scallop soup.

Then I had the pork shank, OH the fillet and DS the short rib

W
DS had some Virgin cocktails and OH and I had the wine pairings for our starters and then shared a fabulous bottle of red.

Desserts were
A passion fruit milk tart, some sort of cherry sponge pudding (I did not expect to like this but it was light and delicious) and SS had cheese.

We might actually cancel The Boathouse and go back there instead

You might need to brighten your screens to see that lot! I'm sat outside TOT in the sun and can't see what I'm doing!

Glad you enjoyed it and at the end of the day that is the most important thing.

Unfortunately I cannot tell what some of the pictures are and the wine is discernible.

The cheeseboard is hilarious in a non complementary way.

Ok the wine is a moderately expensive South African red. I think Jiko favour this country?

OP. Glad you enjoyed it, we were there on Saturday and my Wife had the filet but as usual I had the fish. Halibut at the moment, pity it's not Mahi Mahi but equally as good.

We like eating where you did, the staff are so good and keep slipping you something to try!

We never eat desserts but their cheeseboard is excellent.

So pleased you liked the experience. We are back there twice and also Citricos but that's up in the air as we may cancel and do Jiko's again.

PS the buffalo is to die for!

A few more visits for you then!
We considered going back tomorrow but we're sticking with the boathouse (although the Chef last night said we'd find it gimmicky) we'll give it a go.
We tried quite a few wines before deciding on that bottle!
We had an excellent server. Everything was really good and for the 1st time we felt we'd had something comparable to our offsite favourites

I await your Boathouse review with interest to see if it compares. Enjoy that as well.
I love all South African wines, good choice.

Oooh the food looks amazing! That wild boar starter in particular!

Hadn't really considered Jiko before but I think I might just be about to add it to the ever expanding list for next year!

All of this looks delicious. I have a reservation at Jiko in a few weeks and by the looks of things I'm going to need rolling out of there!

Glad you enjoyed it!
