Power of attorney refund.

Just been talking to my mum and she told me about this.

If you took out a power of attorney between April 2013 and March 2017 it appears that you can claim part of your fee back. This is on a scale depending when you took it out.

The rate varies between £54 and £37 plus nominal interest.

The way it reads is that you can get this amount per power of attorney so if you have medical and financial you can hopefully get a double fee i.e. a couple could end up with £200 plus.

This is the link on the Government website.

My mum had this done but I can't remember when. I must check. I half mentioned it to her the other day then forgot.

I have just claimed refunds for 2 poa’s. Very easy to do online, you just need your poa number, your details and details of one of your attorneys. My fil purchased his through a solicitor but no need to go back to a solicitor to claim, just do it yourself online.

You are right - it's well hidden and I can't find it! Bit of a bummer as we took out POA within these dates.

Thanks for this, I did 2 POAs for my SIL around 18 months ago but hadn't heard about being able to claim some back. I will get the details from her and help her make a claim asap.
