My brothers girlfriend is from a town called aveido which is an hour from Porto. It's called little Venice as has lots of canals. If you google it looks great as does the coast just by it. We are going for 3 nts in may.

Hijacking the thread, sorry! Could you ask her for me please. We want to do a port tour. We're going in March

Thanks

Jumping on the bandwagon. ... we have booked Porto for August bank holiday weekend, going for 3 nights, 2 couples, no car. Any recommends for things to see, which boat ride, port places to visit etc would be great!

Hi,

We are just back from a break in Porto.
It's the second time we've been, first time we stayed in the city at a fab hotel well placed for shopping and exploring (I put a link to it in my previous post earlier in the thread) We also spent time at
a hotel right on the coast further North at Povoa De Varzim.

On this trip we stayed near to Porto in a full seaview seafront AirBnB place and having done the city sights on the last trip we headed inland to follow the beautiful river Duoro inland and headed out through tranquil countryside, passing quaint villages with cute houses with oranges and lemons growing in the gardens, out to the Paiva Walkways. google/search?q=pa...w=1366&bih=654
Ironically although I would have loved to, I wasn't able to do much walking due to an injury, but for those who fancy a picturesqe walk it looks just perfect!

We may be going back in July this year and if so we will look forward to it, it's a lovely area!

Arrived back from Porto on Tuesday. What a place! Full of charm. The architecture is beautiful.

Did a Port tour and lots of tastings! Never tried before, but loved it!

The weather can be very changeable, so pack wisely.

Have fun... we'd go back and do much more of the area

Sounds like you had a fab time. We’re going on August. Any suggestions on the trip you made, where to eat etc?
