A Canon Ixus would be great for you, I have the 850 IS and love it but that's discontinued. The 950 IS is about £170 on Amazon at the moment and looks to be a great replacement.

Hi
The canon 400d is a very good camera but does not feature video recording.
If you have the money to spend why not go for a bridge camera .
What are you using now?

Hi Tinks
just to give you a bit more info...
Canon Ixus 950 IS approx £250 first class images.8 mp.
Canon Ixus 75 £175. 6 mp.
Olympus mju 770 sw £250 Great spec, water proof 7 mp.
Panasonic FZ18 £300. 8 mp. 18x zoom.

There are just so many cameras it is hard to choose but these are a few that i have found with very good ratings.

If your serious about picture taking have you thought about a digital SLR.
Gary
