Alternative New Years Honours

As we leave 2020 and not belittling the essential and crucial role that some services have played during this pandemic such as the NHS and Teachers, I thought I would start a thread that recognises the unsung hero’s of 2020...

So to kick off...

All staff working in food retail. Checkout, shelf filers and pickers, warehouse and delivery van drivers. A massive thankyou to you all.

Over to you dibbers... lets keep it all good natured and non confrontational...

I agree but my thanks would also go to all the staff who have kept on working day in and day out throughout all this chaos, such as Royal Mail, Bin collection staff, road hauliers, farm workers etc

Huge thanks also to staff who have had to stop and start working as the rules kept changing such as Hairdressers

The many volunteers who give up their time helping others whether that be delivering medication and shopping to elderly/vunerable people, working in food banks etc etc.

Clergy and Funeral Directors.

This year has been particularly difficult for people to pay their respects to their loved ones, and they have relied even more on Funeral Directors and Clergy especially with the additional regulations that have to be adhered to.

The Clergy have had to tend their flocks by alternative methods and offer compassion and hope.

And we should not forget those who have ensured internet access was available to us this year. Can you imagine 2020 without internet?🥴🥴🥴

Throughout the year there has been those friends who have taken to time to check up on you for no return, no other reason than to see how you were.

Netflix for entertaining me (my standards did drop - Tiger King anyone?) and the "controversial" Dibb sections for keeping my wits sharpened.

The shopping delivery packers, drivers. Dont know what i would have done without them.
Amazon... legends.
My mum-has kidney problems but is a carer for disabled people. She has had to do all their shopping amongst other things putting herself at risk. Hopefully she will be getting the vaccination soon.
My husband- he works for a high street retailer that was deemed essential so has worked all through lockdown. The amount of abuse he has suffered from some of the general public is disgusting. He has been sworn at,people getting in his face, been told covid is a load of rubbish and threatened with violence. He had to call the police several times over these stupid people whilst putting himself at risk so he can help people.
I think all shop workers should be given a bloody medal!
And of course our wonderful nhs❤️

My sister, Ericsmum who started to shop for her shielding neighbours back in March, and still does it each week! She thought it would last about three weeks!
