We enjoyed it. I hadn’t realised the whole series was available. I expect we will watch it all over the weekend.

I watched it and thought it was fantastic - think I’m going to end up watching the entire series over the weekend.

Loved the characters and feel like I have a connection to them already, despite having no personal experience of the issues they face. Remember the music well but was too young to have known what was happening in the world at that time.

Found it very powerful too and am sure I’m going to cry when I watch the rest.

The attention to detail was amazing - I remember the pubs in London (gay) being like that and smoking on top of a route master in Hackney but due to work and other reasons I was in the closet until late 80’s so much of it passed me by but I soon caught up when the first man I knew died of ADIS in 1989 in Ipswich and was a host at a local gay pub there. Then it hit home to me and hit home fast and hard

I was signing along to some of the tunes to the episode tho

So powerful. Loved the characters, the story and the music. The final scene of Ep1 was so sad. I'm going to watch the rest this weekend as I can't wait until next week.

I let my 12 year old son watch it until it got a bit raunchy for him and to watch it through his eyes was interesting. For him and the majority of his friends, if they were gay they can just be who they want to be with no question from their families. It was a bit if a realisation for him that until quite recently it wasn't always that way (and for some still isn't)

Glad he saw some of it (yet a very early on raunchy scene - before the shower, shocked me even (and made me laugh too))

I watched it last night and really enjoyed it , the end of first episode though was quite a hard watch, without trying to sound ignorant was it really like that in hospital nobody fetching in his food, complete isolation... reminded me of an old infirmary, I know it was the 80s but I don’t remember hospitals looking like that then or maybe in my area they were more modern inside. The soundtrack was amazing, some of the scenes had me howling with laughter , some more hard hitting , I was born in 71 remember in the 80s all the news about aids , remember the government campaigns, the leaflets through the door.
To be honest I don’t think I’ll be waiting until Friday to watch next episode , I’m liking how the terrestrial channels are going all Netflix at the minute with you being able to binge watch a series... cos what else is there at minute

I'm really tempted by this, but I think it's going to be so sad. I'm not sure I'm emotionally up to it at the moment.
I was born in 79, so it's a little before my era so to speak, but I remember some of the 80s.

It was based in Hackney East London and the local hospital would have been the Royal London @ Whitechapel and it was certainly like that into the 2000’s - I remember having a small procedure and coming to in a ward that resembles that and I though I had died ! All been modernised/raised now - thankfully. But I also think the austere feel of the ward was an artistic interpretation of how AIDS patients were treated with great fear - all changed with Princess of Wales but I think it needed to be seen - lest me forget how unkind we humans can be when we are trying to be caring . Humans touch and love is needed (very much like COVID times ... )

It has hard message but is also fun, educational and great characters . Certainly not all doom and gloom but there was a very hard hitting edge to last nights which wasnt sugar coated
