What a US citizen has just told me re tips
I asked one of our fellow cruisers who lives in Nebraska about tipping amounts. I thought it might help Dibbers to hear it “from the horse’s mouth” so to speak.
“In the USA servers do not make minimum wage. Many make 5-$7/hr plus tips. (in a restaurant they may make $20-$100 per hr in tips). Restaurant staff rely on tips for their living. In Alaska and many other parts of the country, 20% is a generous tip for exceptional service. 15% is more the norm at restaurants.” I hope that helps Dibbers. |
