It depends on what you want. Being tied to School Hols is a major reason that we do multi centre with just an element in Orlando. (Flying home from Florida always seems cheaper than flying in).

2 years ago, during Easter Hols, we flew into Pensacola via a 3hr layover in Atlanta and did 14 days, 3 in Pens, 2 in Destin, 1 in Tampa and 8 in Orlando before flying out of Dayton Beach via Atlanta for 1 hr. Those flights were £432 pp, Delta tickets with the long haul in Virgin Dreamliner and the shorthauls in Delta MD80s. Not bad for Easter!

This year it is into Boston for 3 on 18 July, train to NY for 3, fly to Dayton OH for 3, fly to Orlando for 13 and then drive to Naples for 1 before flying home from Miami on 9 August.
The plane, train, plane, plane, plane comes to a total of £728. That is less than many are paying for directs London to MCO return with a 14 day split.

Whilst I am not suggesting that you trek all over the USA like we do, I am advocating that perhaps a mini 4 day break in one of Boston, NY, Philly, Washington etc at the start of your break then an internal into Florida, particularly Tampa or similar may save you an awful lot whilst giving you something additional and different.

There are lots of Dibbers on the August thread that have not booked yet, particularly those wishing to fly from Manchester.
I am in that group for two reasons.
1) I want to fly direct this time.
2) I will not pay above £800pp inc bags
The airlines are winning at the moment but I Don,t fly for SIX MONTHS so it’s their interest i’m earning!

Dayton is the home of the USAF Museum. It is the largest and best Military A/c museum in the world, housing Memphis Belle, Bocks Car and 350 or moe others. It is also close to Indianapolis (speedway), Cincinatti (site of the creationist Arc). It is very much on my bucket list. Flights Laguardia to Dayton were £80pp and Cincinatti to MCO, £75. If we had just flown NY to MCO it would have been around £80, so we get to see the USAF museum for £75 each (admission is free).

Have a Google!

Booked! Last two weeks of August. MAN-LHR-MIA return with BA, total cost of just under £3k including car hire and baggage. By my calculation makes the flight itself around £400 per person for the 5 of us and so very happy with that. Thanks to great advice on the Accommodation thread we have over night accommodation booked now too.

Not doing Disney proper this year, so off to find my outfit for our one night at MNSSHP.
