Yes, it may be that the height of summer is not the time to go

Glad you're enjoying the report. Hope you have a great trip next year.

I have to admire the bravery of those who visit the dessert in the summer. Way too hot for me, but the landscape is stunning there- almost like you're on another planet.
Hmmm, not sure if it was bravery or idiocy Glad we got to go there though - amazing place.

I'd love to take credit for the photos, but Melissa was responsible for most of them

I must admit, I had to look twice to make sure I'd read it right!

We were amazed how quiet it was too, we drove for miles without even passing another car! Such a beautiful place
The silence was incredible - couldn't get over how quiet it was.

Loving the subtle U2 song references.
Ha - glad you liked them!

It was a really good meal, probably one of the favourites of the holiday.

Wow looks amazing. Pretty much a chilled day apart from the 46 degree heat. That is hot!

Was a great meal - wouldn't have wanted to be that chef, he looked like he was roasting!

It was very hot, but worth it for the scenery.

We loved Joshua Tree NP too. So may different wonders to see but oh that heat! I grew fed up of taking just one more picture of the increasing temperature when we drove from Palm Desert to LV via this NP 😂🤣
Thanks for sharing

It feels like something I should have already well known, but I’ve only just relatively recently found out that cacti are only native to the Americas. I’d love to see them ‘in the wild’ one day. I’d also love to hike through, but I think I’d be too scared I’d die. Haha! Either from dehydration…or snakes or something!

72 miles till empty…that’s brave in the desert

Fab day

It was incredible, but the heat was something else.

We took the fact that the rangers were telling people not to hike as a good indicator! I'd also read up though - the snakes mainly only come out at night, hence why I was brave enough to venture out of the car in daylight!

72 miles till empty - life on the edge

Thanks for reading all!

Such beautiful landscapes. No wonder hiking wasn't allowed with temperatures like that!

Sounded like a lovely relaxed day and a total contrast to LA.
