Dubai Prescribed Medication

I know there have been threads before but I'm finding it hard to understand the websites (the ones that I can get access to).

Anyway I am visiting Dubai and my husband has prescribed medication. Levothroxine for an underactive thyroid and Amapril for high blood pressure.

Do I need to fill in online forms etc. I'm not sure exactly what I need to do.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi there. We went in November. I started a thread on it as I was very confused but this is what we did.

We had a GP letter each detailing the medication and why it was prescribed. We also had current prescription slips . We also only took the amount needed for the holiday ( plus a couple of days in case of delay) inside the original packaging with our prescription stickers on.

I checked the very long list of banned meds and none of ours were on that list so I did not complete the on line form. My reading of it was the form is mandatory for anything on that list.

The mohap website has this notice and the list of meds to check and that’s what I went by

It states you are not obliged to use the form for other drugs (as in, not on that list... that’s how I read it).

At the time of the change there was lots of press, inc the FCO website stating all travellers must use this form for anything. Then the notice above appeared on the website

However, it is not somewhere that you want to get things wrong and I have only been once and can only share my personal experience. That doesn’t make me an authority on it and if you are concerned, a call to the embassy may help.

As it happens we were not asked at all about our meds on arrival. But we had come prepared if we had been !

Have a fab time.

We filled the form in for DH medication last year and it was refused, while we were already there! His medication wasn't on the banned list but we did nothing but worry about coming home! We half expected him to get an extended holiday!
We are going again in May but won't be filling the form in this time but will take his prescription.
They don't ask whether you are carrying anything anyway!
Unless it's on the banned medication list I think it is ok to just carry it through!

I actually can't see Levothroxine or Ramipril on any list at all (banned or controlled). I must be doing something wrong.

You should be fine with both of those meds. Take them in original boxes and carry your prescription slips with you.

I’ve just changed our Dubai flights because of this but my prescriptions (I have so many) were on the controlled list - it’s more stressful than its worth for me the information available is just not good enough yet. Oh well back to sunny FL - hard life 😆
