VH adding a baby to booking

flying economy, tried to upgrade with points after being instructed what to do once our child was born, but Virgin Holidays and Virgin Atlantic sing from different sheets, leading to confusion, frustration and ultimately disappointment (we'll be making a complaint to both companies, wont get us anywhere but I feel Virgin Holidays told us what we wanted to hear in order to get the booking, we were given the same instructions by 3 different reps, but then the last two times we inquired we got completely different reasons why we couldn't.)

Went in to my local VH store, and was faced with the least helpful, condescending and arrogant VH rep I've ever met. Whats happened here is that I changed the booking adding our DD, the system sent me an updated price that was £300 more, then the day after the system sent me another update with a discount, the app currently has the higher priced invoice cause its not been updated, but the £160 increased price has been confirmed.
