What differences will we see at WDW parks?
We're planning on heading back to our favourite place in August 2020. The last time we were at WDW was May 2015.
What changes are there too look forward too in all the parks/waterparks? We were there as Downtown Disney was being transformed into Disney Springs so we're looking forward to seeing that without all the hoarding up. Animal Kingdom was a bit of a mess so I'm hoping that's all finished by the time we go back. Thanks. |

Lots of changes in 5 years. Animal Kingdom now has Pandora area with Flights of Passage and Navi River, which are both excellent. Hollywood Studios has got the new Toy Story Land. I can't comment on this as it wasn't open when we there last year but we're looking forward to it. Disney Springs is great now it's all be done but we found it a bit too busy. By the time you go go the new Star Wars land at HS will be open as well. There's also been some ride closures, a few at Epcot and the Great Movie Ride at HS.

The theme park timeline here on the dibb is a good place to start to see what’s opened/closed since your last visit. Disney Springs and Animal Kingdom will look much nicer for your next visit. There is work that’ll be happening in the other parks though with lots of different areas/rides due to open in the next few years.

I’m actually excited about my ten year gap. With regular visits before that it’s exciting to know that things have changed, new restaurants, rides and experiences. I feel like a newbie again with a touch of cynicism

I felt excited after my 21 year gap last year - partly because Animal Kingdom wasn't open on my trip before last year so I had a brand new park to explore

Have a look at the DIBB's Themepark Timeline, which lists the changes to the parks over the years:
https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/timeline.php (Scroll down to May 2015 and then work forwards/upwards to the current date. You can select each park separately from the pull-down list at the top). Also, check out the Forthcoming Attractions page to see what confirmed new rides are coming to the parks in the next couple of years: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/For...ns-p-1502.html
