Avis bring back empty?

Hi do Avis do the same as Alamo where you get the option to return the car empty and you pay for the full tank? and if so what would you recommend doing? (flying into Miami airport)

Yes, they offer it. They charge you for a full tank, plus airport tax so it'll always cost a bit more than if you were to fill it up yourself. But its convenient and you avoid the hassle of trying to find a local gas station charging decent prices. Important thing is make sure you decide at the rental desk... If you don't sign up to the prepaid fuel and return it back empty, you'll be charged $10 a gallon.

There are plenty of gas stations on the approach to Miami airport and prices are in line with charges at other off airport locations

It's up to you really, if you pay for a tank up front then it's one less thing to worry about. If the price is fairly competitive I'd be inclined to go for return empty.

I return (the vehicle) empty every time I visit the US, and have done for years. Makes everything much more relaxed at the end of your vacation and even if you have a couple of gallons left in the tank on return, it is only 3 or 4 bucks.

Agree totally. After spending a few thousand on a holiday I certainly don't lose any sleep over leaving $5 of gas in the tank.

We always take it back full, just what we’ve always done. We made a rookie error the first time by going to the shell garage right by the entrance to the car hire return, cost a small fortune! Last year we found a 7-11 that was about 15 mins from the airport in a more residential location and was so much cheaper.
