It was scheduled to close long before the fatal crash.
I went to a race there in January 1998.. Indy cars , first proper race I went to in the USA. It never held many races though a few Indy and 2 or 3 Craftsman truck races , It was a bit of a white elephant and mostly used for the Richard Petty driving and as a test track for some race teams. Btw Speedway in the USA isn't the same as Speedway here.. virtually all there race tracks are called Speedways over there but are used for car races not the Speedway bike things we have here. |
