manatees in late june/july?

Is there anywhere close ( about 2.5 hours drive max) to Orlando where we have a good chance of seeing manatees in the wild in late june- mid July?

We went November 2014 on the 14th and that was the 2nd day of Manatee viewing season. The distance would be fine but the time of year is against you - sorry

You can go to crystal springs and do the manatee swim - I have done it in July and they are not there as much but did see them and swim with them -
I holiday down the gulf coast and we have swam very close to them - amazing !

Just outside Anna Maria Island, Palma Sol Bvld
Do a search under Manatees on the blue banner line above there is a thread dated 14th June 2014
which gives you plenty of information. In a nutshell Manatees are usually in this area every morning. I was there June 2015 and they were there. Just 3 of us and a couple of locals watched 7 Manatees for an hour or so. Fantastic
