Exploring Away from Orlando

Hi all,

Off to the best place on earth again in August and are staying at Bahama Bay

This will be our 5th time there, so we were looking at exploring a bit further afield. Being an Iron Maiden fan I want to try the Rock n Roll Ribs down near Coral Springs. I know its a bit of a drive so I was wondering if anybody has any recomendations for places to stay down that way. Is there anything to see down there? Are motels easy to get?

Any help would be appreciated.

All of the usual roadside chain motels are easily available. The beach is only about 20 minutes away, or head a little further south to Fort Lauderdale. Loads to do - what sort of things do you like? One of our favourite Florida days was spent on the Fort Lauderdale water taxi - it's a hop on hop off service with commentary on the houses/boats of the rich and famous and a bit of 'history', there's a Bubba Gumps, you can feed tarpon with frozen shrimp, head to the shops - possibilities are endless.

There's also Santo's right across from the restaurant that you're going to - they do a really good sushi lunch buffet for an amazing price. The Butterfly garden is close by, but we didn't go, and Sawgrass Mills probably isn't too far if you like that sort of thing. The Everglades Holiday Park is a good place to get an airboat out on the Everglades if it's something you haven't done before - it's where they film a show (name escapes me right now) for Animal Planet.
