Thanks for all the info, think it’s worth the risk as we don’t have anything in our records and have been travelling to US for a few years now. We have decided to go twice a year for shorter trips (9/10 nights) so speeding up the process at the airport will be worth it.

There is a "mobile" enrolment centre at the US embasssy in London from 7 March - 3 May 2018, so you could possibly also do an interview there if one is required. No idea what the availability is looking like there, and haven't checked if they do renewal interviews in London, but assume they would.
GE is great, a few weeks ago I was through immigration within 3 mins of getting off the aircraft at JFK. Haven't actually used it at MCO yet, since all but one of my arrivals there since getting it were domestic, and family was with me for the other, couldn't desert them. For me it's also useful that my passport doesn't get stamped anymore, and the included TSA Pre very handy for domestic flights, especially from MCO these days. Edited at 11:09 AM. |

Let us know how it goes Mr TM.
As we only visit the Us once a year it's not worth us doing it. Why is it only valid for 5 years. Why can't they make it it 10 so it fits in better with passport validity? |

Don't know the reason, but it's a security programme, so I guess they want the opportunity to review members periodically, and 10 years would be a long time. Also bear in mind the scheme was originally launched for, and is still primarily used by, US citizens and permanent residents, though your query could apply equally to them.
Passport validity doesn't really matter, unlike ESTA the GE membership does not expire when you get a new passport, you simply update the details in your account. 5 years also gives them more revenue than 10, though GE is a lot more generous for foreigners than the equivalent UK scheme for US citizens (Registered Traveller), which costs £70 for one year and £50 per year to renew, plus £20 to update details if your psssport details change. You also have to have entered the UK 4 times in two years to be eligible. I would agree it's probably not worth it if you only go once a year and/or don't do much US domestic travel. APC kiosks will probably serve you well enough for immigration, and if you fly direct on BA the TSA Pre benefit is currently useless. Edited at 05:53 PM. |

According to Flyertlk they were all snapped up the day they went out.
I have 1 year to renew anyway so not worried... Gives me an excuse to go back to USA :-) I don't even know what the renewal process is as I was one of the first to get it on the pilot. Am hoiping I dont need another backround check here and its just a case of paying the $100 to CBP Last time American Express gave me the $100 back, shame thats ended.
