As you say, it's not queue jumping if you temporarily leave the queue to go to the loo (or similar). And therefore not against the rules.

As I mentioned before, temporarily leaving the queue and then returning will make no difference whatsoever to the other people in the queue. They'll get on the ride at exactly the same time whether the person temporarily left the queue or not. So I'm not sure why there should ever be an issue?

Mind you, people are people and some like to make a fuss about anything.

Jumping ques at Disney is definitely not a problem. The Americans who are the majority are really polite from the young to the old. They have IMO the old fashioned British etiquette. They are first to say something that is not right. Iv seen people over the years excusing themselves to pass in the que. you just accept their trying to get to their families. However if a family of 6 were moving thru the lines you can be assured the majority of Americans would stop it.

I left the queue for Soarin to buy water for our young son (yes yes, I’m disorganised I own up). We were at the back of the queue when I left so I felt quite relaxed wandering round choosing water and snacks. When I got back the queue was massive and solid. In those situations I make like Mary Poppins and say “Excuse me!” in a loud imperious voice and “Thank you SO much!” very sincerely. People looked startled but moved and nobody said anything (in earshot). I never did it again though.

I have to say this is one of the reasons why I much prefer the US parks to Paris. (It is one of a long list of reasons TBH)

The amount of queue jumping is minimal and most people seem to play by the same rules - i.e. if I was in the queue and have to leave (usually for a child toilet issue) then it is OK to rejoin my family who have waited. It is not OK to have never been in the queue and push through.

Not everyone abides by this of course but it never makes much difference to me if someone pushes by so we just make like Elsa/Anna - I refuse to get upset on my holiday !

As most Americans and Brits have this same understanding of the rules I've never seen much of an issue unlike in Paris where I nearly got into a fight when someone shoved my wife to get past her in the queue...

I have to say I’ve been to WDW quite a few times over the years. I can’t recall a single instance of a big group of people trying to jump into a queue. Maybe I’m just really lucky?

Same for us. Although my husband is quite 'broad' so just kind of spreads out across the width of the queuing aisle

not disney, but when my now 21 year old DS use to go to Legoland Windsor the Brownies were the worse, always always had 1 leader holding the spot then 20 brownies and 2 or 3 leaders joined them, use to make my blood boil.

In fairness I cannot recall an incident in WDW where my blood as boiled in the same way, had a few parent and child going thru the q, and instances at the start of the queues where groups want to be together, as 2 of us easily get into the middle of larger groups, but on the whole queues work well
