It's sulphur because Florida has a lot of swamp land. Also sometimes the fountains don't have enough of the drink ingredient I.e. The coke concentrate that is mixed with fizzy water to make coke.

Aha! That's what that is. I thought I was going bonkers last time as the taste of the drinking water was coming thru in the sodas so strong tasting. Makes sense that they're scrimping on the syrup. And it costs them buttons as well- something like 2c per drink.

I agree that you can get a smell/bad taste from the water even the fountain drinks. I just put it down to the floride. We are spoilt in this country with our tap water.

I've always assumed water in the US is higher in metal traces as it always tastes metallic to me ... and I can't actually have a bath in the US (not just Florida have the same issue in other states too) as I get burns on my skin if I do so have to stick to showers. I'm not a allergic type person and have no issues in the UK.
