Just remember the worst one we had and it ended up with us having a massive argument with an amercan family. CMs fault as well though.
Safari jeep ride thing in AK. We'd all loaded in the car and this woman came steaming up to join her family. Stupidly, the CM let her tag on the end of the row of the car with her family instead of the row behind which had a space. Of course, the rows are for a set number of people and we now had one extra. It was CRAMMED. Wife told the woman to go behind and she said no she wanted to sit in same row as her family. Massive row. |

I always do the old elbows and arms outstretched when in queues to stop the queue jumpers. Seen it loads of times at Disneyland Paris when you get someone reserving a spot up front and a group try and jostle in from behind.

For me, I do understand the children / toilet situation and usually you get a feel for who is genuine, and let's face it politeness goes a long way. However, I have had some very impolite people try to catch up with their familly (who do not appear genuine and mostly obviously are not - the front person of their group just ran ahead). Unfortunately without CMs around it can be very intimidating to question people. When I have reported queue jumping to CMs no-one really seems to care unfortunately. For us, we always enter the queue as a family group - end of. We have when the kids have been smaller had the odd emergency, but I usually try to make myself known to people whilst leaving the queue (so they remember when I come back) and also explain this to the person manning the queue to (and yes, I feel terrible re-entering and have rarely done so.)

I recall a situation at Shanghai Disneyland where we were queuing for Soarin'. Someone was pushing their way to the front, either to 'catch up' with somebody or just to avoid the 2 hour queue. We went into 'blocking formation' with elbows out. The person still pushed with such force past my friend, she had bruises on her body afterwards.
No reason to do it let alone physically pushing people. The security CM soon caught up with them and escorted them out, along with their friends. |

Pity the Americans dont heed their own rules,a few years back i was there with extended family queing as we Brits do, when a couple of americans pushed past us saying oh our family is up there! We let them go only to find a few minutes later a couple more came up saying the same thing! Well myself and the rest of the family decided to make ourselves stretch out and ignore them, sorry if i was mean but no more got passed us. I dont mind one or twobut there must have been about six of them!

I also hate it at waterparks when the queue is obviously of a reasonably long wait and we as a family are walking calmly up the steps (at a regular pace) only for lots of (usually teenagers) go running past us to get in front of us and other famillies. So rude. For me the queue starts at the entrance. Possibly I could understand it if there was no queue at the top, but when there obviously is, it is pushing in to me...

We had the same problem whilst queuing for Forbidden Journey. A large Brazilian tour group were trying to push through to get to a friend further up the queue. Myself and several other mainly British holiday makers stretched ourselves across so they couldn't push through. The gentleman next to me said very loudly "Not bl**dy likely". The tour group were not happy.

Not keen on this myself, when you enter a queue which is a leisurely walk around and people take advantage and duck under the ropes and dash in front of you.
Once in the queue in my opinion queue etiquette starts whether it's a slow or fast moving queue. It's not fair on people less mobile or unable to cut under the ropes. |

On a similar theme what's everyone's thoughts when you are waiting to be served at counter service areas or pop up stalls around the parks? Does queue etiquette still exist there because I've had a few just stroll up and get served!
