Character dining
Just realised haven't done anything about booking this and would like to do this at least once. Had a quick look and a few times a/v.
Are they fairly easy to book a few days before or even on the day or is it a case of you really need to book weeks beforehand? Or do you have to do a main meal? Can you go into say, Be our Guest or Tusker House for a drink or snack? |

Character meals (especially the ones in the parks) tend to be booked up a long time in advance. If you see any availability I would snap it up!
Be Our Guest isn't a character meal as such, you can meet the beast at dinner but no characters at breakfast or lunch. Dinner is a set price menu so you wouldn't be able to go in for a snack or drink. If you wanted to see inside the castle at Be Our Guest (it is pretty impressive!) you can go for lunch and just get a drink or cupcake if you didn't want a full meal. Walk ups are pretty rare though so you would still need a reservation. Likewise for Tusker House or any of the character meals, they are a set price and there is no way around that.

ok thanks for that. I seem to remember years ago (pre kids) just booking a few days beforehand but I'm sure we probably went outside the school holidays.

You may well be able to pick something up, (usually because of a cancellation) the popular places and times do book up these days at 180 days out even outside of school holidays. I've seen many people try to get walk ups at the likes of Crystal Palace or Be Our Guest and get turned away as they are fully booked.

I'd make a reservation now, you can always cancel up 24 hours before at no charge, but just remember no shows get charged $10 per person I think.
