Hi,
I have just booked a villa this morning through Homeaway. I have since looked at reviews of Homeaway and they are not very good recently. Most of the bad reviews are about refunds taking ages due to COVID19 which I get but there are lots of references to really poor customer service. I have messaged the owner of the villa and he has been very responsive. The villa also has free cancellation until 6 weeks before we go and the villa gets really good reviews. Have any of you booked with Homeaway and what was your experience? The payment is pending so I can call my CC and get the payment stopped if they are really bad news. Thanks |

I've booked loads but never had to cancel or amend. When/where are you due to go.

I've booked with them before and had no issues.
I had a condo booked with a 100% refund policy, my refund was processed within 2 days, no issues at all. I'd happily use them again but check the refund/cancellation policy on each booking. |

We had a Vista Cay condo booked through them for May. When email balance payment reminders came from HomeAway it was immediately followed with email from owner advising not to pay and full refund would be given - which it was.
Excellent service from owner, little to do with HomeAway though

We had a villa booked for next summer. When the virus hit I immediately cancelled it and within 2 weeks my deposit was refunded. No problems with them from me.

Booked with them last year and owner was great. Think this is the key, how good your experience is will really be down to the owner most of the time. Hopefully you chose one with lots of great reviews from people who have already stayed there.

We have a villa booked and we’ve had to cancel today as out flight has been cancelled. The owner has been very responsive and has asked for a full refund of our deposit to be processed. I’m just waiting to see how long it will take to come back now!

We’ve used them a number of times and never had any issues, we have had to cancel this years booking and we are still waiting on the refund 3 weeks later but it’s to be expected in current climate and I will chase up in another week or so.
