Car hire small car free upgrade

If you hire a small car do they usually give you a larger free upgraded car as they never seem to have many small cars

Often they do, but there seems to be many more small cars in the fleets than ever before, so it is a chance you take.

I think theres more chance they will try and sell you an upgrade... As above theres more economy types car in the rental fleet , so if you feel a small car won't fit your needs then I would upgrade here in the UK

If there are no cars left in your class then yes they give you an upgrade to the next class but this is not gauranteed. I got an upgrade like this as I was last of the plane and last into the garage.
