Staying at a Disney hotel but not doing the parks

Just wondering if anyone had stayed at a Disney hotel but didn't buy park tickets? Would it be weird?
Thanks

Not weird. Lots of people do it on the Port Orleans fb group. It’s your money, stay where you like!

I don't think it'd be worth it to me as that money would buy a much nicer hotel off site in most cases and I could still choose to eat meals at the resorts if I wanted to get a bit of pixie dust .
We had a completely Disney free holiday earlier this year in Orlando and I enjoyed it more than the crush Disney has become (and almost no planning). I did toy with cocktails at the GF or dinner on the Boardwalk but when it came to it we couldn't be bothered !
We are all different so there's no "weird" just what suits you

We did our first no parks trip this September, stayed in lots of different Disney hotels, it was so much fun and we found a couple of new favourite hotels along the way. Didn’t really miss the parks at all to be honest, though we did do the Halloween parties at MK and Universal. It was just lovely to enjoy the pools and sitting in the rocking chairs and next to the fires or on our balcony. Came back very relaxed for a change!

Yes, we booked a late deal staying at All Star Movies for a week for the princely sum of £450 for flight hotel and luggage. Had an amazing week
just wandering and eating around Orlando

We did this last year, stayed our last 3 nights at sports, it was the favourite part of the holiday for me, used the Disney buses to get about, we did Disney springs, boardwalk, some resort hopping & pool time, it was lovely

We have done this as well, we stayed at AKL and had an amazing time, didn’t miss the parks at all. We are booked again for next year but have park tickets this time due to the free dining or we would have done it without the parks again.

I added on a few extra days at the beginning of this trip, staying at Caribbean Beach Resort with no park tickets. It was fine for a few days and I enjoyed visiting some of the other resorts.

I don’t think it is weird, but personally no I would not stay onsite without tickets for an extended period of time. Disney hotel rooms come at a premium price and to me it only makes sense to pay it if I were utilising the onsite guest park benefits.
