Well just over 4 weeks to go and I thought I would update you with our latest plans.
My suitcase is now down and a few bits are already in!

Our hotel has changed quite a few times as you can see from earlier posts here but we have finally settled on the New York Helmsley Hotel. I was surfing around and they had a good deal of pay for 2 nights get one free so it came into our budget. I also emailed them and they are definitely a smoking hotel and they have reserved the 23rd floor corner room for Barbara and the 24th floor corner room for me with guaranteed views of the city. Can't wait!
As to our itinerary this had changed a bit since the early days.
We arrive on the thursday and now plan to do top of the rock and St Patricks Cathedral and eat at Ellens.

Friday stays similar only we have scrapped to Hop on hop off bus and are now using the subway. so we will do Staton Island Ferry and also Brooklyn Bridge and hope to eat in Chinatown.

Saturday is our day in Central Park - we will get the subway up to around 80th st. Anyone advise if we need to go further up than that? then walk back down through the park.

Sunday - we now have the 10.30 3 hour Manhattan Island cruise booked where it goes right the way round. Then hoping to get back to the hotel via Kmarts and then in the evening we have third row booked for Billy Elliott.

Monday is still a bit vague and has a few options.
We may go back up to Central Park and check out the zoo then walk back down 5th Avenue and maybe do the duck again.

Tuesday we are going to finish up the Empire State Building. Lots of people say they prefer the Rock but we loved the buzz of the ESB and looking straight down at all the cabs etc. then sadly back to the airport for home.

So that is the latest. We are both madly excited and I shall do a full trippie when I get back.
I did check out Bronx zoo thinking I may see some tigers but sadly dont think we will have time ... and oh ywes, there is no Perkins in NY
Walmarts is about 4 miles away and could be an option on the Monday as Barbara says she would love to visit one but it will depend on time and weather.

Hi Jean, for Central Park I'd get off at Columbus Circle 59th and go in that way to see all the top attractions, if looking at just a walk in the park then if u get off at 86th you''l get a photo op at the American Museum of Natural History before going into park, the zoo is closed on a Monday as are quite a few things in the park at least they where in March

Thanks for that Steve, I wasnt sure how far up we have to go to get the main bits of the park in.
Shame about the zoo on the Monday - Looks like Walmart might just be calling
