P.s. roxie2001 we're staying at Hotel Cala Font, Cap Salou, it has a lovely beach and rude Russians but we can put up with them as we like the location.

thanks, i am enjoying reading your orlando report, the food looks amazing.
i really like salou, yes it is tacky, but i live in great yarmouth, so im used to it!
the beach is lovely there, i think its nicer the further up you walk (from where we re staying) but i have a 12 year old that doesnt do lots of walking!
once you ve sussed the bus system, which doesnt take long, its so easy to get around without a car. the buses take you straight to portaventura, and pick you up from outside.
for a cheap getaway, not too long on the plane, i think its ideal.

the lockers are for as long as you like, you just have to pay again when you ve opened it. we only opened ours the once to get changed, and then when we left. its well worth it for the change of clothes.
i didnt go on furios baco, but matt said you cant take anything on, but you can leave bags by the side of the ride. he said there is a cage to leave items, and they get locked while you re on the ride. he said its the same for all the big rides.

we ve never stayed at cap salou, i dont think its too much further. i can put up with alot of things with sangria on tap all day

Thanks for the info, you'd think I'd know seeing we've been a few times but we've never used the lockers. The time before last I was really cold after we came off the Silver River flume so we may take a change of clothing and use them this time.
Sangria is a wonderful thing

well I'm from blackpool so that won't phase me. Hubby wants to stay at the main hotel to he near the parks, two of the nights we are there the place is open until 2am! I think it's an event night.

My main worry is places to eat. We've never been to mainland spain but we have been to the Lanzarote and Tenerife and our main problem in the resorts was finding places more traditional, can you recommend anywhere? I can cope with burger and chip most nights but fancy somewhere nice just the once.

i remember the fireworks/water show from the summer. it will be nice to be close to your hotel if you stay that late.
i cant really recommend any nice places to eat, we didnt go out to eat last year, alot of places were closed.
the other time we went in the summer, we ate at a restaurant, and it was terrible. i did see some nice looking restaurants along the beach though.
i think the food at the portaventura hotels is supposed to be lovely, fresh fish, meats, salads. we had a good salad selection every night, and there was always pasta as an alternative to fast food.
if you stay onsite all inclusive, i think you can eat at certain places in the park, you could look to see what they serve. there were some good restaurants around the park.

I too have heard that the onsite hotels do nice food but I expect they will be a bit pricey. A lot of the salou area hotels do half, full board or all inclusive, which is normally edible although sometimes slightly repetitive. Ours is great and the chef comes out each night and cooks an extra dish in the restaurant, normally a lovely fish dish.

when i saw the lockers were only a euro on our first day there, i had to double check. i think you choose a code, to lock and open it.
