We had planned to maybe book 4 days 25th-28th Oct but is it pointless and gonna be crazy busy ? I work in a school and both girls in school and hubby doesn’t get any time off at Halloween so has to take two days unpaid as it is 😏

It will be very busy as all the French schools are off this week as well as a lot of UK schools. With four days though you should still have plenty of time to get everything done. The Saturday will be without a doubt your busiest day, so I would plan to do a lot of the shows this day and leave the rides to your other three days.

Ok. I’m wondering if we went a weekend earlier would it be any less busy ? My eldest wants to do mainly rides and me and youngest mainly want to do character meets. We want to go Halloween tome to see the decor shows and characters for Halloween

It may be slightly less busy as you're further away from Halloween itself but I think any long weekend over the Halloween festival is going to be busy. I really don't think it would be unbearably busy and you'll have all the extra halloween shows and parades to thin the crowds out a bit.

We too are Scottish. 2 of the last 3 years we have went the first week of the Oct hols as you get a quiet week before the French and English break up.
I often look to fly out on the Sun, stay in a cheap hotel around DLP on the Sunday night and then move to the hotel we plan to stay in for the rest of the trip on the Monday morning till Friday. Sunday flights are always cheaper then Monday ones and so savings pay for the Sunday night hotel.
If you can I would highly recommend you get there 13th/14th Oct and stay that midweek.
The queues for check in when we have checked out on the Fridays are nuts and you can visibliy see the parks are far busier come the Fri based on those sneaking away a day or so early pre break up.
