Corfu or Rhodes?
For those that have been where on either place would we find a lovely sandy beach?
Looking for a week in October do you think that is late for these places or have any of you been then? Any recommendations are most welcome I am sick of looking we would like all inclusive or half board.

Not been to either of those islands but visited Crete for the last week in October a few years ago (half term) and the weather was terrible. Very windy, cold and quite a bit of rain. Lots of bars and restaurants and shops were closed too. I think it can be ok in October but it’s unreliable and we were very unlucky

I've been to Rhodes quite a few times October half term, and weather has been pretty good on all occasions. I go to the Canaries a lot too, and went this October when the weather was just OK, bit not as good as the year before in Rhodes.
So it can be luck of the draw.

I've been to Rhodes four times (always in October - very hot) and Corfu once (early May - very hot). Both are beautiful places to be on holiday. In Rhodes I stay at the Rodos Palladium which is a gorgeous hotel with the beach just across the road and within walking distance of the old town. In Corfu I stayed at the Marbella Corfu which again is a beautiful hotel and the beach fantastic.

I think a lot of Corfu is closing come October, I know the rain levels start to increase from mid September.

I love the quieter St George resorts (there's two one north of Corfu town and one south confusingly) but by October a lot is shutting for the season so for mid October I'd be looking at more southerly Rhodes or even Crete.

What about Cyprus for better weather that time of year.

On average, Rhodes is hotter and drier than Corfu in October.
However, as it is later in the season I would look to go to one of the slightly larger resorts or Rhodes town, as they are less likely to be quite so seasonal. |
