Lanzarote expert help please

going for 5 days chill-out to Playa Blanca.
Decided on only one day 'doing stuff' and we're going to the Cactus Garden and César Manrique house with a nice lunch in between.
Anybody local to there or a frequent visitor can tell me timings ( how long to get there - taxi or bus? how long to see it all) and nice place nearby for lunch? thank you

Sorry, can’t comment on public transport but we rented a car for a couple of days - cheap and easy driving. Absolutely love the work of Cesar Manrique, we visited Casa / Museo César Manrique, Mirador del Rio, Jameos del Agua, Jardín de Cactus and
Taro de Tahíche.

I'd rent a car, use Autoreisen at the airport, they are cheap and great.

The cactus garden is quite isolated, I'd rent a car.

Is it really worth hiring a car just to drive to one place and back? Anyway, one of us can't have a boozy lunch if we do that...

If you don’t want to drive I’d suggest an organised trip, public transport to the cactus garden is likely to be infrequent

Also make sure you know which house you want to go too. There are two Cesar Manrique houses on the island, and neither are that close to each other.

I agree with the above poster, If you don’t want to drive then I’d join a pre arranged tour otherwise I think you’ll struggle to do it on public transport. However if you do choose to drive it’s really easy to navigate and drive on Lanzarote!

Would a taxi both ways not be feasible?

It would cost you a fortune, both houses are effectively on the opposite side of the island to Playa Blanca. You’d be looking at a 40 min taxi drive at least. You could potentially see if you could “hire” a driver for the day, but you’d probably just have to see if that’s possible when you get there. Otherwise I do think you will either have to drive or join a tour.

Have a look at google maps and look at your resort in relation to the houses

We always hire a car in Lanzarote, the roads are so easy to drive on and most are pretty newly tarmaced. We usually hire from these guys, as a family we’ve been using them since 1994. The buses in Lanzarote are generally very good but take ages! To see the island properly, it’s best to hire a car, I’ve been 10 times to the island and love it there over any other canary island. Hire for a day and you can see so much, including the volcano, Jamos Del auga, papagayo beaches (they’re stunning)
