Skype v WhatsApp

Hi, has anyone used Skype instead of WhatsApp to keep in contact in parks etc? In the past we’ve used WhatsApp and got on ok with it but this year Ds is staying at home and he uses Skype so I thought it might be easier just to use that. I haven’t seen anyone mention Skype on here though, just WhatsApp so I wondered if it wasn’t as good.

There is a general convergence of these types of apps, as each new one gains popularity, the previous ones emulate their features.

If you’re just using them for messaging and audio/video calls, there isn’t a lot of difference. I slightly prefer the usability of WhatsApp, but use both apps interchangeably, depending on who I’m communicating with and the quality of the connection. It’s only when you get deeper into the features that one scores over the other, which probably won’t matter to you from the sound of things.

They all do the same thing, I’d just go with the more popular one. Personally I use WhatsApp, but for work we use Skype, quality and clarity are on par with each other.
