Thailand - July/August
Where is the best place to stay in Thailand. We don't want a really busy resort but would like somewhere that has something to do other than the hotel.
Also who have you booked you holiday/s with? Have no idea as it's never been on my radar but we're really struggling for holiday ideas for 2020. Thanks

Are you aware it will be the rainy season? Just thought I would mention it in case you had not looked yet.
It is a big country, not sure there is a "best place". I would want to see a few areas, a couple of days in Bangkok, then maybe up to Chang Mai and finish off with some time on either an island or one of the southern beaches such as Krabi or Phuket. There is plenty to do other than the hotel! I would personally just book it myself, but if you are not comfortable doing that perhaps try somebody like Kuoni for putting an itinerary together. |

We based ourselves in a villa within a hotel complex in Phuket as were travelling with children and did trips out from there, we visited Patong & the Phi Phi Islands as well as temples and mountains. If we went again we'd go more off the beaten track but tended to stick to the more touristy areas when the children were younger. We loved it, we spent some time volunteering in a dog shelter so it was interesting to see another side of the culture also.
We went in school summer holidays also and the weather really was fine, it did rain, but like Florida rain, it was short lived and still warm.

we are going to Koh Samui in August
this was on advise of trailfinders for best weather in august as its on the gulf of thailand so better this time of year, apparently... as above expect it like florida to tip it down one minute & roasting the next we booked hong kong - ko samui - singapore trip with trailfinders as to be honest cant be bothered to book all flights/hotels/transfers etc etc etc we went in said what we wanted and she gave us various packages/budgets and we chose the one that best suited fwiw we did the same at Kuoni and the price was nearly 1/2 with trailfinders compared to Kuoni for similar spec flights are BA (and partners) and all hotels 4* or higher so not too shabby Edited at 03:49 PM. |

It’s rainy season... I went at the beginning of the rainy season one year most days fab but once time it did rain and I mean RAIN for 24hrs solid like really bad and meant we missed on snorkelling as visibility was so poor the days after.
Re where to go, depends what kind of holiday you are after we did a bit of everything. Choice wise I wouldn’t go back over the rainy season |

I love Thailand but I wouldn’t restrict myself to one place for the whole holiday, I think the resorts in Thailand aren’t great but the country has so much more to offer!
Bangkok is amazing, Chiang Mai is my favourite city in the world, any of the islands would be lovely. Whenever I go I just book it myself as I find it easier and cheaper but I’ve heard good things about Trailfinders and Round the World Experts. Both have good deals. Koh Sumui is a nice island but doesn’t have an awful lot to do apart from enjoying the island life. Krabi and the surrounding islands are again lovely. If you want a mixture of relaxing and adventure then personally I’d do a split stay with Chiang Mai before flying down to one of the islands (but obviously do be aware of the weather). |

Hmmmm food for thought. Not sure it'll be ideal ( for this holiday) as we'd really like somewhere to relax. We don't want to be moving around so I guess it'll be a trip when we're not tied to summer hols and can really appreciate the Country.
Thank you.
