Virgin Upgrade at the Airport

Is it a fixed price to upgrade from Economy to Premium Economy at the airport with Virgin or is it demand-based pricing based on how many seats are left?

Also, can you upgrade the night before or is it only on the day of your flight?

(We don't have the option to upgrade our booking via the app or website so airport upgrade is our only option - we've been quoted £7K+ to upgrade over the phone as our return flight is bargain Upper Class seats)

i think usually done on availability and perhaps the cost of your orginal ticket but will always be dependent on availability.

Have you got the option to "bid for upgrade"? It may well be the type of ticket that means you can't upgrade but unfortunately its hard to know until you are there whether or not they will offer an upgrade or the price.

Could well be they're quoting that much because PE is technically full and they're willing to bump reward seats to Econ for that amount of money.

We're on points flights next week into Miami. I'll ask about an upgrade but mostly out of curiosity, can't actually see me going for one unless it's offensively cheap.

Premium Economy is only about a third full at the moment. The quote is so high as they have to rebook the whole package and the Upper Class return part is 1000s more now.
