We're trying out WT+ on return leg in Oct - cost £80 each and figured that smaller cabin + bigger seats/more recline might mean some semblence of a sleep on the way home (hideous experience last year with the discourteous family from hell). Outbound we were quoted £606pp (2 adults 2 kids) - yes, a massive £2424 for one leg... erm, no thanks!

Remember the difference in Air Passenger Duty. From 01 April Economy class remains at £78 per adult but Premium Economy and Business go up to £172 for any passenger aged 16 and over.

pretty rubbish experience in WT+ flying back from Miami, in a 747 from the dawn of the jet age. two positives were the crew and the legroom.

My flight was worth it. Out here now...from 14 to 27 Feb and paid £624 in the September sales.

Absolutely, I hate economy, all squashed in. Flight in October 18, from Gatwick lovely newly refurbished plane, well worth it.

Sorry to jump onto the thread but can I ask you experts about the LGW route to Tampa. Is it likely to be a refurbished plane? We fly in August.

Yes, it’s likely to be a refurbished aircraft. In the last month, 27 out of 31 Tampa flights were on refurbished 777s. Of course, it’s not guaranteed until the refurbishment programme is complete, but most aircraft are now done and the chances are high.

We flew on the A380 WT+ to Los Angeles a couple of years ago , was a great experience we had the window seats so had the extra storage too. I slept the whole way there nearly which is not something I do when we fly economy

Hope you enjoy it too

They have also just improved the menus in WT+, you now get 3 choices instead of 2 for the main meal and the dessert has been enhanced (not just the desert economy gets as it used to be). They also now provide a 2nd hot meal 90 mins before landing (not just the sandwich and crisps or granola bar economy get)

Towards the autumn period of this year, they’ll also be updating and revamping the amenity kit for WT+ which is needed.

For the 2nd 23kg bag, the extra leg room/recline, better food, off the aircraft quicker and smaller cabin... it all depends what you would pay for that as to whether it’s worth it for you! We’ve paid £390 each to upgrade to WT+ for our Christmas trip to NYC - mainly for the flight home as we just cannot sleep in economy!
