Lost photo pass photos on conputer

We don’t know how but we’ve managed to lose 2016 years photos from memory maker.Dh uploaded them all to our computer but the file now can’t be found is there any way we can retrieve them ?

Do you back up your computer regularly?

I don’t know i’ll Have to ask dh when he gets home .he spent hours trying to relocate them and couldn’t

Firstly try not to save anything else to the drive.
If they have been deleted someone must of done it and have you checked the recycle bin (i'm sure you have).
If so when you delete something its still exists (for a time) its just the marker on the file which is removed.
There are programs which can scan for these files Here is a link to one. But there others if you do a search for 'photo recovery'

It is best to protect against these things. I use apple time machine and I also use Crash Plan. Crash Plan costs a few pounds, but it is cheap compared with losing something priceless.
I had never had to use it until last night when I lost an MS Money database that I use for my house rental business. Recovered it in a few minutes from CrashPlan. Worth every penny.

As others suggested - don't use the computer until you check your recycle bin and potentially look at undelete tools - the better ones are not free.
There are companies can do a much deeper analysis and recovery - they take the disk from your machine. I had a friend had to pay £500 for this service.
It sort of depends on how much you want the photos back that drives how much time and money you want to spend.

If they’ve been deleted and removed from your recycling bin ‘Recuva’ is a good option and helped me very recently.

If you can’t find where they have been placed on your drive do a search for *.jpg
