Porridge made in the microwave

In the past I have used the sachets of oats (all measured out for me), put in a bowl, added half and half milk and water then popped into the microwave for 2 minutes. Using the sachets can work out expensive (unless on offer) compared to a bag of oats. How do you cook your oats, I`m with Slimming world so looking to keep the Syns down, perhaps on using water to mix?

Yes use water to mix it or skimmed milk if you must.
Try adding a hot chocolate sachet for some flavor or fruit if you prefer.

I follow slimming world but have my porridge as overnight oats done in fridge. But in microwave I've done it with 40g porridge oats, 150ml water or skimmed milk and then added a skinny syrup that's syn free for flavour... using a maple syrup one at minute. If I'm honest I prefer my porridge cold now in fridge not hot in microwave. The oat so simple multi grain ones used to be a healthy B choice but I haven't seen those for a long time thing they stopped doing them

Asda Mornflakes super fast oats 500g 79p. Just mix with some milk and microwave until it rises , stir and microwave again till rises. Generally about 3 mins depending on how much.

Add blueberries after the porridge has risen, then micro again till it rises again. Easy peasy!

I think it is best made in a pan. 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup semi-skimmed milk, 1/2 cup water. simmer for 5 minutes to make perfect porridge. The more you stir it, the creamier it is.
The best oats are the Quaker Old Fashioned, from supermarkets in USA. Not the same over here!

We used to use the sachets too (Oats So Simple), but then we just started buying Quaker Oats (tried others, but others just aren't the same), measuring out the same amount of oats and milk that you use for the sachets, then microwaving for 2 minutes - it's exactly the same as the sachets. We've got some small food tubs and measure a week's worth out, so just use one each morning, and have a small jug to measure the milk. Very easy and saves money

i have porridge every morning and leave an appropriate size cup (from a measuring set) in the top of the container and decant. I don't measure the milk but because i've been doing it so long i know how much is needed. I have a teaspoon of honey in it.

I’ve just made porridge this morning for the first time ever! I’ve just had braces put on and need soft food so I had to google how to make it 😂 Followed a recipe from BBC and made a bit too much so I’d have to make less next time, but I stirred in a spoon of Nutella and enjoyed it more than I thought I would!
