Disney resort pools

Hey all. I’m staying onsite in Disney, I’m getting conflicting information online, some places say you can go use other resort pools and others say you can’t

We were hoping to take a couple of days and book dinner in another resort and go walk around the resort and use the pool and go to dinner. Are you allowed to do this?
Also can you use your resort refillable mug in other resorts ?

I don't think you are allowed to use any other pool than the one you are staying in,you need your room key to access them! You can use your mug in any resort though!

Where are you staying. Normally you can't use other resort's pools but if you're staying at one of the Port Orleans resorts then you can use either Riverside or French Quarter.
You can fill up your resort mugs at any resorts.

Some of the info you're finding might be for DVC members, as I believe there's different rules for them as pool hopping is a membership perk.

But as a general guest, unless you're staying somewhere with shared amenities (like the POR/POFQ example above) then you're restricted to your resort's pools.

No pool hopping, except where shared facilities (POR/POFQ)

Mugs can be refilled at any resort

Any conflicting advice you are finding about this only has one right answer. Unless you are DVC (which I don’t think you are) you can’t pool hop. You can only use your own hotel pool. Exceptions are guests at POFQ/POR who can pool hop and guests at AKL Kidani and Jamboree House who can pool hop. That’s not to say you can’t get away with it at other resorts. But it’s not allowed. Don’t bother trying at the Yacht/Beach Club as they have a gate where they scan your Magic Bands.

They all have gate but that being said none of the gates at four Disney Hotel pools I’ve been in have ever actually needed you to scan your magic band. However it’s not allowed!

I thought people at the All Stars could use any of the pools. I have never stayed in a value but it might be worth looking into if you are staying at one.

At WDW, the higher the hotel type, the better the pool so those paying $300./day get a better pool than those paying $100. Allowing hopping would defeat the reasoning behind the tiers.

FYI, Universal allows pool hopping but they do not have the range of different hotels Disney doesn
