Fortnite query

Hi everyone. Not sure if anyone knows much about the game Fortnite. My son plays it, and over the last 2 days over 11,000 v-bucks have appeared in his account. He definitely hasn’t bought them, but we haven’t got a clue where they have come from. Anyone know?

That sounds very odd. Have you checked your payment card attached to the account to check no one else has hacked into his account?

Can't really offer advice but I don't believe they could be appearing for. Any genuine reason.

We haven’t linked a card to the account, which is why it seems odd. I will double check my cc account that we’ve used to purchase v bucks from before.

Please be aware my mum was cloned via the Microsoft points thing, over £300 was taken over 6 weeks.

You could try contacting Epic games with a query but not sure how long that might take for a response.

There are sometimes glitches - my sons have had items credited to them in error and then just taken back a few hours (or even days) later. They do get rewarded additional V bucks for participation but I’ve never heard of 11,000!
According to DS1, completing all of the challenges in the current battle pass could get him up to 1500 free plus there’s a challenge on at the moment where you get the next season battlepass free if you complete a whole series of challenges. However, he says there’s nothing in the game at the moment that would credit anything like that volume.
He reckons it must either be a glitch (and hence there’s a chance they may just be taken back) or someone getting into the account. His advice is defitely not to buy anything with those V bucks and to change the account password for extra security.

Well, we’ve now gotten to the bottom of it! He started playing it on his Xbox, which required an Xbox live account. Since this was set up last week, it turns out that he accidentally clicked on “free games” which have cost £60, plus 24,400 v bucks without realising. I’ve cancelled the credit card, and requested refunds from Xbox - not holding my breath. An expensive lesson has been learnt today!

Mmmm I'd be sceptical of the not realising bit. This game is hyper addictive. I removed all my cards from the system as my son spent £450.

On the iPad, we get messages from Apple confirming payments have been made (with permission). The issue has been since he started playing on his Xbox last weekend, which is where all the payments have come from. He won’t be using his Xbox for a considerably long time.

OP - you need to set up XBOX family... that way all purchases need to be approved by the account holder..

you will get an email to confirm X child wants to purchase x,y,z. you then simply approve or decline.
