Mobile NYC 20 Years Later - Day 4 Natural History Museum & Central Park

Monday October 28th 2019

Day 4 started for me at 3.30am! When I first glanced the time I had misread it and thought it was 6.30! At the real 6.30am I took painkillers. I had been trying desperately to fall back asleep but at 7am made coffee and knew that I was in for a tiring day. I treated myself to a breakfast of a Hershey nut bar which was one of the room snacks as by this point felt weak.

I showered and was ready at 8.30am. Alex was not ready to get ready for the day. I told him I would probably need a late morning or day time nap so wanted to eat and see how I felt. Ramona wanted to come to eat so got ready. Alex decided that he would get ready and come to have breakfast with us.

We left the hotel for a trip to Macy’s which is around the corner. We also popped to Target to grab some sweets to bring home.

We headed back to the room so that I could nap. I told Alex to let me have no more than an hour as did not want to lose the day. I woke up and The Haunted Mansion was playing. We all had a little snack before making our way to Penn Street Station to get the subway to the Natural History Museum. We added one trip to our metro card as we want to walk back down when done. It was 1.30pm when we got on the subway.

We arrived and went in for a wander. There were displays and footage discussing the Theodore Roosevelt sculpture outside the museum and whether or not it’s right to remain.

We headed around the museum and stopped off in the fantastic gift shop. A T-shirt and magnet were purchased before stopping for a late lunch. We were not expecting great things. I went for a slice of cheese pizza, Alex a cheese burger and Ramona chicken dinosaur shaped nuggets with 2 pits of French fries to share, we had our own drinks. Lunch cost approximately $35. Ramona and I then shared an ice cream.

We finished looking around the exhibits and then left the museum for the park.

We headed towards Belvedere Castle and then around the turtle pond.

We walked through to the other side of the park and then walked down 5th Avenue stopping every time we saw a Halloween window and door display.

We continued down feet aching Ramona moaning. We went in Barnes and Noble to use the restrooms. Ramona needed a Frappuccino from the onsite Starbucks to power her on!

We popped into urban outfitters and then stopped to grab dinner from Panera Bread. A half tuna sandwich half greek salad combo for me, a grilled cheese for Mone and a chicken avacado for Alex. We also picked up 2 cinnamon rolls and a bear claw! We were home eating dinner at 7.30pm. My phone tells me that I’ve walked 9.6 miles.

Dinner from Panera Bread.

We showered. Ramona fell asleep at around 9.30pm and we watched tv. I’m hoping the later sleep enables me to sleep later tomorrow.
