Mobile Hurt my back

I bent over to pick something from the floor a few days ago and my lower back is total agony and also my right foot feels numb (but it's not). I cant get to see a doctor until a week today and I've booked an appointment with a physio for monday.

I know you cant diagnose me but any idea what could be wrong? Just can't believe the pain I'm in by just bending over. I'm using voltarol until I can see my GP.

Thanks x

You have my sympathy, I’ve been there, do you have an out of hours GP service? they would be able to offer stronger pain relief, also I find that an ice pack (wrapped in a tea towel) helps but only for a few minutes at a time

It sounds like you may have sciatica x

I'll check with the out of hours. I asked my GP for a phone consultation but they said no. I'll try the ice. I've been using a hot water bottle. If it is sciatica how long does that last?

Sounds like Sciatica, am no expert though, get to a physio imo, till you stretch it out and regain mobility it is hard to say tbh. My darling wife had it quite bad and it took about a month and even now years later she still does the exercises now and again. Hope you get better soon.

Ice, heat, and anti inflammatories for the pain, a good physio should help, the doctors would have told you to come back in a few weeks if it’s still painful anyway - not a lot they can do accept feel for massively bulged spine and prescribe pain relief (And refer you for specialised care)

I had this last June.
I fused a vertebra when I bent down. Physio freed it up and gave me exercises then sent me to Pilates to strengthen my back muscles.

Sounds weird ... but if it helps ... lie on your back on the floor with your feet up on the sofa. You're aiming for a right angle at hips and knees. It's the best position for sciatica imo.

Chiro or Physio. The GP just gives pain killers that ease the pain but don’t heal it
OP I feel your pain as I’ve had chronic back issues for 15 years. I refuse to take anything and just use a Chiro

My hubby had this and they gave him two different diagnoses. We still not sure what it was but it took weeks to get better.
