I always get UHT milk, tinned veg, tinned tomatoes, pasta, rice and a few packs of sanitary towels.

Also if you've ever got leftover gift sets (body wash, deodorant etc) you don't want, they are good to donate (just no alcohol).

Free from products are often overlooked due to the price but people with food allergies need to use food banks too - Morrisons usually have some really good prices on their own brand free from range.

Baby food is another one they often don't get much of

I do agree with checking out your local food bank trust website as they usually provide a list of the things they are most in need off. They are always grateful for any donations but often end up with lots of the same thing.

Treats are also much appreciated as an addition - a packet of biscuits,some crisps or a a chocolate bar can cheer a kid up no end and the calories are often much needed.
