Whilst there are 2 sorts of membership you still need to be able to meet the requirements for each. To have a individual membership you need to be in a certain job or qualified in a listed profession. Any business can have a trade membership.

I agree with the comments on the meat , we have never had a bad piece and find the prices resonable. Many now also have Petrol stations and the prices are competative. Also worth looking at tyres , cost me around £230 for 2 which in kwik fit would be over £300.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the cafe, Jacket spud and filling for less than £2 or big pizza slices,
When it comes to christmas gifts they start to stock them soon and have some really good options.
As for electricals there TV's come with a great gurantee. On the subject of gurantees there policy on most items is refund under 12 months.

The membership information mentions people that work in Education. Do they have to be an educator? DW works in the IT department of a college, would she qualify?
TIA

You have to be very disciplined when you go. It's very easy to walk out of there having spent £300 and you're not quite sure how. When I go in now I always have a specific list of what I need and I keep to a strict budget.

If you are 1 hr away I would first phone them and check that you qualify fir membership and what documents you need to bring with you so that you don't do the trip unnecessarily.

I am not in any of the professions that wualify but work for a large company that have negotiated with Costco that all their employees can become members. I had to bring my salaryslip with me as evidence. For other types that qualify it might be something different.

In normal pre-covid times you could bring 2 guests but the person who has the membership has to pay. Now it is restricted to 1 guest.

Stuff that we buy that I think is worth the membership. Kirkland = Costco’s own brand.

Kirkland batteries
Kirkland dishwasher tablets
Kirkland washing powder
Fairy dishwashing liquid
Binbags (!)
Instant coffee
Lavazza Ground coffee
Meat (Amazing quality)
Fish
Frozen prawns
Chicken
Beyond burgers veg burgers
Amerucan style hotdogs (Kirkland)
Robinson squash
Tiptree marmelade
Bonmaman strawberry jam
Huge bottle of ketchup
Ghiradelli’s brownie cake mix (to die for)
Celebration cakes
American style hotdog and burger buns
Pepsi
Weetos
Cheddar cheese
Christmas wrapping paper (never rip)
Swedish meatballs
Vitamins
Electronics - often competitve prices and excellent return and guarantee policies.
iTunes card when they are on 15% off offer.

There will be seasonal drives that also are really good.

And you will come out with stuff you never knew you needed 😃

I don't know if policy differs between stores but any guests can pay with their own card in my local store (Edinburgh) and changed to this many years ago.
