My daughter has said it’s quite varied so far but she’s enjoying it.

She’s just a bit worried about her placements as they’ve been told they could be up to an hour and a half away!
She found the first week a bit boring because they are getting them used to the uni and where bits are in Lincoln. But we live in Lincoln so for her its all very familiar anyway. The bits she has done in actual lectures she said are much better.

Like your Daughter the placements are similar and can be up to and hour and a half away too and she's not impressed by that at all

I'm a teacher and have a son in year 2. All the books sound great. I know Julia Donaldson is his favourite but he enjoys loads of picture books. As a 5 minute activity afterwards, could she get the children to come up with adjectives to describe one of the characters?

All tried and tested by me in Y2 along with many others over the last 25 years 😀 Great for questioning, discussion and with beautiful illustrations
I’m in Reception now, but was in Y2 a couple of years back. The kids loved The Day The Crayons Quit & there’s now a sequel- The Day The Crayon’s Came Home.
Another class book we read was Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper, and after our writing work was complete, the teacher bought in ingredients & a larger table-top cooker pot (a bit like a slow cooker), and we made mushroom soup (just due to limited time, it was quicker to cook).
Other Y2 teacher I worked with (as an end of day story) would read a chapter each day from a Horrid Henry book, or from The Worst Witch, sometimes we’d have one of the Winnie The Witch books.

Edited at 10:56 AM. Reason: Spelling

Any books with rhyming words are a hit.
Room on the Broom, The Gruffalo and The Gingerbread Man are favourites in our classroom.
Infact any Julia Donaldson books are a winner.
Martin Waddell books are also big hits. The likes of Cant you sleep little bear?, Owl Babies or Farmer Duck.

Thanks
