BA Pre Booking Seats
Hi
Just wondering everyone else’s experiences/thoughts. We are flying BA to MCO & when I was looking at the pre book my seat option it would cost us nearly £300 to do both ways which I really don’t want to shell out. We are a family of 4 with a 12 & 7 year old , I understand BA’s family policy is to assign seats families with under 11’s 5 days prior to departure guaranteeing an adult sat with them. My Q is how likely is it that they will possibly sit my 12 year old on her own ? Obviously I’m nervous about this and would rather we all sat together or at least me with one and husband with another ... We would be on the 3-4-3 config. Thanks in advance |

We’ve always been allocated seats together with BA, even after our youngest was older than 11. The first time we flew with them our oldest was already 12. We’ve never been separated in 7 trips and never paid to pre-book.

I pay for seats most times, we are very fortunate to travel business class when we go and as it’s a small cabin like to sit together so it’s worth paying the extra. If I was travelling in economy or premium I probably wouldnt bother as they tend to sit families together. Or at very least one adult with the kids. If u do decide to pay remember that they don’t have to honour your seats and they can still move you but you can apply for a refund to get the seat booking fees back

We go on Tuesday with an 11 year old and 13 year old and BA have sat us all together (3 by the window and two in the middle next to them)

I've flown with BA many times as a family of 5,4,3 with kids under/over 12 and as a couple and have never been split up except for across the aisle or behind when 5 of us.
On saying that, I am looking to pre-book our seats for the return flight in October as we have quite a tight connection for our flight to Edinburgh and I want to book as near to the front of economy as possible for a quicker exit. If it wasn't for that reason I wouldn't book even though travelling with DD who will be 13 as from past experience feel it is unlikely we would all be split up. |

BA are normally really good and pre-allocate families so it’s very unlikely that your 12 year old would be sat separately. If they give you 4 middle seats then you’re all sat together. Worst case and they give you 3+1 then it would only be 1 person over the aisle so neither of the kids would be on their own.

I’m in a similar position. We are going in August with BA and it is £500 to prebook our seats (2 adults and 3 children all under 12). I always prebook our seats as I’m a bit of a nervous flyer however £500 is so much ! X

Flew with BA last year with my 12 year old and on the way back we weren't sat next to each other. I had a window seat and he had the window seat in front of me. Not ideal, but I knew the risk of not being sat next to each other. I've gone and pre booked seats this year

This is the first time we have not booked seats with BA as I get nervous and would hate to be split up. Have decided it's just too much and as long as one of us is with ds10 it is fine, dd17 would rather be on her own if we get put in the middle 4 she has asked that she be moved to an empty window of there is one!
